You will be hard-pressed to find a more unique messenger bag and for at least 3 years the recycled rice & feed bags have been a hit at Green Living.  Similar to the cradle-to-cradle recycling theory, these truly are bags-to-bags, being commercial rice and feed bags in their first life and then washed, cut, and sewn into durable messenger bags in their second life.

The messenger is made from an ultra-durable tight-woven synthetic fiber and is cotton lined and loaded with pockets.  Use it for books, papers, diapers, laptop or as a big purse.  The designs will vary based on the selected original bag and each is unique.  The bag is available in blue, green, orange, and pink.
