Sandhill's glass-fusing technology marks a new level in contemporary tile evolution. The company's roots come from a basic need to keep the environment clean and productive. Founded in 1998 in Fairbanks, Alaska, Sandhill was awarded a grant from the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation to develop an innovative glass-fusing technology which utilizes 100% recycled glass. The outcome of a two year research project resulted in the tile line that Sandhill produces today. Not only are their tiles made from 100% recycled glass, which is otherwise destine for landfills, each tile takes less than one-half of the energy to produce than ceramic tile, and less than one-fourth of the energy it takes to produce a cast-glass tile.

Sandhill Glass Tile can be used for interior and exterior installations on both horizontal and vertical surfaces, in residential and commercial applications. Our glass tiles can be substituted for ceramic and natural stone products in most applications. Our environmentally friendly glass tiles can withstand normal fluctuations in temperature and humidity, and may be used in heated areas including pools, saunas, and steam rooms. In addition, glass tiles are nonporous making them resistant to chemicals and other contaminants in exterior as well as interior applications. The tiles should not be subjected to thermal shock.
